The TUI Marathon Palma de Mallorca continues to grow. The number of participants is up 14 percent compared to last year and now in the week before the marathon already more than 8,600 runners from 53 countries have registered for the sporting event on 16 October. “Now in its eighth year the TUI Marathon Palma de Mallorca is still growing in popularity. We are really pleased that the sporting event continues to expand,“ said Michael Lambertz, head of Group Marketing at TUI. In 2004 the TUI Marathon in Palma started out with 2,100 runners. This year a new finishing area on the Paseo Marítimo between the Mediterranean and the cathedral will provide more space on the finishing stretch. By relocating the finish TUI has reacted to the constantly increasing number of runners in the event.

The organiser has further expanded the broad supporting programme for the TUI Marathon Palma de Mallorca by arranging a concert in the Ses Voltes cultural centre below the “La Seu“ cathedral. In the evening before the marathon the Andalusian musician Zenet will enchant the audience with his extraordinary style of Cuban Son with flamenco, jazz, swing, bolero and tango. The show starts at 8pm. The supporting programme starts on Friday, 14 October with the Marathon Market, children’s entertainment and Pasta Party and finishes in the evening after the race with an After-Race Party in the Mega Parc.
