FIFA Women’s World Cup: Vancouver Named One of Six Canadian Host Cities

It’s official: Vancouver is one of six Canadian cities that will host the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Vancouver joins Edmonton, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Montreal and Moncton in staging the world’s largest single sporting event for women, and the first coast-to-coast sporting event ever held in Canada.

The city’s World Cup action will take place at BC Place Stadium, which received a $563-million upgrade last year that resulted in a new retractable roof (the largest of its kind in the world); FIFA-certified, two-star turf; and the second-largest video board in North America.

Locations of key games, including the semifinals and final, will be announced later this year.
