KUCHING, June 2012: The ICCA Asia Pacific Educational Seminar (APES) is held in conjunction with the annual ICCA Asia Pacific Chapter Client/ Supplier Business Workshop, which will take place from the 4th to 6th July 2012 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).

The International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) Asia Pacific Chapter organise the ICCA Asia Pacific Client/ Supplier Business Workshop and APES annually where decision-makers of international associations converge with select ICCA members for a strictly Business-2-Business session, a rare chance for industry members to personally showcase their tourism products and services to key association clients.

The event, hosted by Sarawak Convention Bureau (SCB) and ICCA, with supporting partners Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) and AOS Convention & Events (AOSCE), will be held on the 6th of July 2012 and is expected to showcase speakers who are key opinion leaders from international associations around the world and key ICCA members to share best practices, current trends and provide a platform to exchange ideas, in line with the theme, “Carving a Niche in the Meetings Industry”.

Noor Ahmad Hamid, ICCA Regional Director Asia-Pacific says, “The one-day ICCA AP Educational Seminar will offer a great opportunity for development to the entire meetings industry about the importance of this market segment and perhaps win more business in the future.”

Mr Mike Cannon, Managing Director of SCB comments, “The seminar will give insight to association leaders and industry partners on what to look out for when planning their meetings and events. The sharing of information between client and supplier of this calibre is indeed a privilege and I hope to see participants taking an active role in this opportunity.”

APES will be moderated by Mr Gary Grimmer, CEO of GainingEdge who has been an active ICCA member from Melbourne, Australia. With over 25 years of experience in the meetings industry, he has conducted numerous seminars including the annual ICCA Association Experts Seminar in Frankfurt, and is undoubtedly one of the best moderators in the Asia Pacific region.

Ms Jamie Wang, SCB Bid Manager and Organizing Chair for the ICCA Business Workshop and APES comments, “The seminar is targeted at suppliers in the hospitality industry, from hotels, venue operators, PCOs (Professional Conference Organiser), DMCs (Destination Management Companies), travel companies that are involved in the meetings industry, universities, and also association leaders alike. On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we hope to see existing as well as up-and-coming industry partners to share your wealth of knowledge and to further develop the local industry as well as network with key association leaders.”

Entry to the workshop is open to all industry partners. Free seats are available on a first-come-first-serve basis and for members of ICCA, of which exceeding numbers of free seats will be charged RM 120 per participant.
