UniSpace Sunderland has secured a deal to host the annual conference of the North East and Yorkshire Contaminated Land Forums (NECLF) and the North West Brownfield Regeneration Forum.

The conference will run for one day on 6th July with an expected 150 delegates. It will be held in the newly developed plenary space within the University’s Sciences complex in the heart of the city of Sunderland.  The new plenary space, which can accommodate up to 250 delegates, was recently created to accommodate a growing number of pharmaceutical and science based events at UniSpace.

The event will be attended by representatives from the UK’s local authorities, universities, regulators, developers, the Environment Agency and companies in the associated industries. Speakers will include architects and remediation contractors. It will focus on the sustainability of redeveloping land once occupied by businesses such as coalfields and petrol stations – so called brownfield sites.

Sharon Olver, Commercial Manager of the University of Sunderland responsible for UniSpace, commented: “We are delighted to be hosting the NECLF and North West Brownfield Regeneration Forum’s annual conference as a direct result of the high class facilities combined with the faculty’s specialism in Environmental Studies.  UniSpace offers excellent meetings and conference space to all manner of events, but we are always thrilled to attract business that supports the University’s core proposition as an academic centre of excellence.”
