Cheltenham Racecourse announced that Kaiser Chiefs will be performing in the venue’s Centaur on 21st February 2013.

Tickets for the highly anticipated gig will go on sale at 9am on Wednesday 29th August. The chart-topping band, who have generated in excess of six million album sales, recently played live in the London 2012 Olympics closing ceremony, covering The Who’s classic ‘Pinball Wizard’.

Building on its non-raceday activities, the landmark venue, home to the legendary Cheltenham Festival, launched its ‘LIVE’ division in 2011 and has since hosted well-known faces including John Bishop, Micky Flanagan and Alexandra Burke.

Cementing its position as a world-class entertainment site, the racecourse’s changing face of events has pulled footfall from across the country to its year round schedule of live music, comedy gigs and festivals. Earlier this month the venue confirmed Irish stand-up comedian Dara Ó Briain will be performing live in the Centaur on Thursday 11th October 2012.

Susie Bradshaw, conference and events manager at Cheltenham Racecourse, said: “We are very excited to announce we will be hosting Kaiser Chiefs next February. The British band has a worldwide reputation as an outstanding live act, accompanying the likes of Green Day, Foo Fighters and U2 on worldwide tours. We are very pleased that such a phenomenal band will be kicking off an exciting line-up here at Cheltenham Racecourse for 2013.”

The venue, located only one mile from Cheltenham town centre, boasts a host of flexible event spaces including the Centaur, a 2,250 seated auditorium with state-of-the-art lighting and sound capabilities, as well as 300 acres available for outside events and 10,000 free car parking spaces; the facilities available make the venue the de facto choice for concert and comedy promoters.
