New Conrad Algarve set to host ‘Oscars of the travel industry’

Europe’s most successful travel brands are set to be acknowledged at a red-carpet ceremony hosted by World Travel Awards (WTA) at the brand new Conrad Algarve on 6th October 2012.

Key categories to watch at WTA’s Europe Ceremony include “Europe’s Leading New Hotel” with Corinthia Hotel London, Fairmont Grand Hotel Kyiv and Jumeirah Frankfurt and St. Pancras Renaissance London Hotel among the hot contenders.

Meanwhile Copenhagen, Istanbul, London, Lisbon, Paris, Rome and St Petersburg will go head-to-head for the coveted title of “Europe’s Leading City Break Destination”.

The leading travel decision-makers from across Europe are scheduled to attend the gala evening, which is being held in partnership with Conrad Algarve and Turismo do Algarve, and will include a gourmet dinner, top entertainment, as well as the presentation of the prestigious awards. Guests also have the opportunity to participate in the WTA Europe Golf Classic tournament which will be played on the region’s finest championship course and sponsored by Quinta do Lago and Porsche.

The ceremony will serve as a glittering spotlight for the new Conrad Algarve, a palatial contemporary resort, set in a prime location on the doorstep of the famous Ria Formosa Natural Park.

The WTA organisers highlight the contribution the significance of hosting the event in the Algarve.

WTA’s Europe Ceremony 2012 marks the third leg of WTA’s Grand Tour, a global search for the world’s leading travel brands, which also includes regional heats in Dubai, Singapore and Turks & Caicos. The winners of these legs will then go head-to-head at WTA’s Grand Final, which takes place at The Oberoi, Gurgaon, New Delhi, India on 12 December 2012.

WTA’s local media partner for the event is Publituris, Portugal’s leading travel trade publication since 1968.
