Russian citizens will be able to obtain three-year visas to Japan free of charge

Citizens of Russia and Japan will be able to obtain three-year multiple-entry visas free of charge, First Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Denisov said.

According to him, the draft law on ratification of the agreement on simplifying the issuance of visas to the citizens of Russia and Japan, signed in January 2012, has been approved by all departments. As pointed out by Andrei Denisov, it will greatly facilitate the entering and staying in the countries of those citizens who are actively involved in international exchange: business representatives, participants in scientific, cultural and sporting events, as well as journalists.
“The key provision of the agreement is a simplified procedure of obtaining multiple-entry visas for up to three years. Visas are issued free of charge, except in urgent cases,” – he said.

In addition, the new order is being introduced, which provides issuance of visas on the basis of direct invitations without applying to the relevant immigration authorities, First Deputy Foreign Minister informed .

“Also workers of missions and subsidiaries of Japanese companies in our territory and vice versa can obtain a three-year multiple-entry visas with the possibility of continuous presence in the country,” – he added. Andrei Denisov also said that foreign citizens can stay in both countries without a visa in case of emergency within 72 hours.
