21st European Biomass Conference and Exhibition held in CopenhagenConference: 03-07 June 2013 – Exhibition: 03-06 June 2013

Held in different cities annually, the European Biomass Conference and Exhibition (European BC&E) successfully combines a highly renowned international Scientific Conference with an Industry Exhibition. It has been running for over 30 years, rightfully gaining its status among the world’s most significantly influential events in the biomass sector.

Its high-level scientific programme and parallel events attract participants from a wide ranging background including: researchers, engineers, technologists, standards organisations, financing institutions, policy and decision makers and thus the global platform of current knowledge attracts industrial exhibitors, making the conference events a significant tool for technology transfer and innovation- and this year they meet in Copenhagen!

WHY Copenhagen?

Denmark is globally acknowledged as a hub for cleantech companies and as an example of sustainable development in renewables. Danish initiatives are often cited as best practices in many bioenergy branches and the destination features leading companies and research organizations in large-scale applications of biomass such as co-firing, as well as in small-scale applications such as co-generation, biomass for heating, biogas, and algae. Denmark also houses important world players in the development of 2nd generation biofuels.  The venue of the event, the Bella Center in Copenhagen, also operates with a clear-cut CSR-policy.

ABOUT the European Biomass Conference and Exhibition

Last year the European Biomass Conference and Exhibition had 1,550 attendees from 63 countries, 332 keynote, plenary, oral and parallel events presentations, 400 poster presentations and 12 parallel events, business-to-business-to-science matchmaking and much more. The 2013 event is to be of similar size. The conference part is designed to provide a platform for both a wider audience and scientific specialists to exchange knowledge on the latest scientific findings, industrial progress and political landscape, whilst the exhibition part provides maximum visibility in Europe’s leading international biomass event and functions as a global platform of current knowledge and is expected to attract leading key players from over 60 countries.

ABOUT the Bella Center

The Bella Center (BC) is a fully modern trade fair and convention centre that is capable of hosting all types of events: trade fairs & exhibitions, large & small meetings, international conventions, parties – everything is possible. The venue began focusing on social responsibility long before the term CSR appeared on everyone’s agenda, with activities including events for the disabled, delivering unused flowers to nursing homes and donating profits from our flea markets. Today the Bella Center has structured its efforts under the name Sustainable Awareness.

Examples of the Bella Center’s CSR-policy include

• The BC has a Green Key certification.

• The BC is a member of the UN Global Compact.

• The BC has prepared a Code of Conduct as a standard element of its contracts with suppliers.

• The BC continuously works on induction, retention and prevention in relation to employees.

• The BC was the first company to support the socio-economic company Bybi(Urban Bees), by supporting the project financially (the BC currently has approx. 1 million bees on its premises), participate in product development and incorporate the company in its events relating to social responsibility. The BC also sells their products in its Bella Sky Hotel shop.

• The BC has a cooperation with the Red Cross in Denmark regarding internships for asylum seekers.
