1st Annual STEMtech Conference & Showcase to be held at The QEII Conference Centre @TheQEIICC

QEII CCThe 1st Annual STEMtech Conference & Showcase will be held at The Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre (QEIICC) on Tuesday 29th April 2014.

STEMtech 2014 is the largest conference on Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) education taking place in the UK this year and will attract 1,500 senior school decision makers, head teachers/principals, heads of STEM departments and STEM teachers.

Key speakers include: Matthew Hancock, Minister of State for Skills & Enterprise; Neil Carberry, Director of Employment & Skills, CBI; Mark Dawe, CEO, OCR; Charles Parker, CEO, The Baker Dearing Trust and Maggie Philbin, CEO, TeenTech.

Alongside a full conference programme there will also be showcase sessions for delegates to experience innovative activities and projects designed to encourage students into STEM subjects. The event will take place on the third floor (the Fleming and Whittle rooms and the Benjamin Britten Lounge) and is being organised by Aspire-Education.

Delegates will find out about the latest developments in STEM and technical education across Primary, Secondary and Further Education. Key discussions taking place throughout the day include, the role of Education in supporting the growing skills gap, building the foundations for life-long learning in STEM, the Growing Role of Primary Educators in Influencing Participation in STEM, Delivering a Gold Standard in STEM and Technical Education, Tech Levels, TechBacc, Applied General Qualifications and Apprenticeships.

There are several ways in which delegates can attend the conference:

  • A full day conference pass which allows access to the full conference, showcase and exhibition
  • A half day conference pass which either allows entry to the morning conference and afternoon showcase & exhibition for primary education or entry to the afternoon conference and morning showcase & exhibition for secondary education. For prices please see the website.
  • There are also a limited number of free showcase passes which are for access to the showcase & exhibition only.
