EGENCIA SOPHIE KRISHNANLONDON, March 13, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Egencia®, the business travel company of the Expedia group (NASDAQ: EXPE), today announced Sophie Krishnan as vice president of global marketing and product.

Krishnan previously served as Egencia’s vice president of strategy and business development. In her new role, Krishnan will help Egencia continue its mission to revolutionise worldwide corporate travel and service.

“Given Sophie’s deep knowledge of our clients’ needs, technology and the evolution of the corporate travel industry, she is the natural choice for this role,” says Rob Greyber, president of Egencia. “I am confident that her insightful leadership will be paramount to our success in bringing consumer-inspired business travel solutions to market.”

Eleven years ago, Egencia began to transform the business travel industry. With the backing of Expedia, Inc., Egencia has grown to be the fifth largest Travel Management Company (TMC) in the industry, with one of the most advanced technology platforms and consumer-inspired mobile offerings for business travellers.

“I am thrilled to help Egencia accelerate the transformation of business travel. Increasingly clients want simple and personal solutions with comprehensive content and relevant functionality,” says Sophie Krishnan, Egencia’s vice president of global marketing and product. “They want an experience that is tailored to business travel with innovation from leisure travel which requires smart technology. Egencia has relentlessly invested in a remarkably strong technology platform, leveraging assets from Expedia, Inc. We’re in such a great position to create new experiences for our clients, I am looking forward to the next few years!” says Krishnan.

Krishnan joined Egencia in 2011 and has helped define the company’s business strategy and development. Additionally, she played a pivotal role in Egencia’s acquisition of VIA Travel™, the largest travel agency in the Nordics – which doubled the size of Egencia’s European business. She also drove business development to accelerate the company’s growth in expansion markets.

Krishnan’s previous positions include serving as a manager at Bain & Company and senior analyst at Investor AB. She has worked extensively in the United States and Europe. She earned an undergraduate degree in accounting and finance from the London School of Economics, and an M.B.A. from Stanford University. A French national, Krishnan is based in London where she lives with her husband and two children.
