Childrens carnival of EuropeAs part of “Riga 2014” events, a special carnival for the youngest and not so young resident of Riga will take place on the first day of summer (June 1) called Children’s carnival of Europe which will take place in two of Riga’s central parks – Vērmanes dārzs and Esplanāde.

The Carnival will be a recreational and educational event for families and children, giving them an opportunity to acquaint themselves with various European countries and characters from children’s books written by these countries’ authors. The Carnival area will be divided into several sectors and “representations” of European countries, each lead by the main characters from children’s books who hail from there.

The Carnival itself will open with a special mask parade for both parents and children at Vērmanes dārzs. Throughout the day, special concerts, puppet-shows and other activities will at the park’s main stage.

A special children’s book fair will also be organized at the park, where it will not only be possible to purchase books, but also trade books.

The Children’s carnival of Europe has been included in “Riga 2014’s” thematic series of events called “Riga Carnival”, which will include various fun carnivals throughout the year for people to enjoy.
