Cairns Convention Center
The team at the Cairns Convention Centre are celebrating following the success of their biggest month since opening in 1996. May was a record month and comes on the back of what has been labelled the best Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE) in its 35 year history.

During May the Centre also hosted the Australia Papua New Guinea Business Forum, the Danks National Trade Conference and Exhibition and the 16th International Symposium on Fish Nutrition and Feeding (ISFNF) amongst other events. These combined events brought 3,400 delegates to Cairns providing an economic benefit of more than $18.5m for the month to the region.

The Cairns Convention Centre’s reputation of delivering successful events with friendly tropical hospitality was further enhanced during this record month with Leanne Coddington, CEO, Tourism and Events Queensland stating, “The feedback from our team here at Tourism and Events Queensland was that Cairns Convention Centre over delivered on every aspect of the event through the planning process of ATE as well as during the event days.”

Whilst Dr Brett Glencross, Chair, 16th International Symposium on Fish Nutrition and Feeding said, “The Cairns Convention Centre was a great facility for our ISFNF and feedback from international delegates has been excellent. The catering throughout the event was highly praised particularly at the Welcome Reception and Gala Dinner. The team at the Cairns Convention Centre were very supportive and contributed to the success of the 16th International Symposium.”

Ross Steele, General Manager, Cairns Convention Centre said, “It is heartening to receive such positive feedback from our clients in what was the busiest month for the Centre since opening. Doubling the footprint of our existing building for ATE and providing extended services to temporary structures was a first and I am delighted our team embraced these challenges with enthusiastic professionalism for the success of our clients.”
