The 18th ISRRT World Congress 2014 brought over 700 radiographers from 59 countries to Messukeskus Helsinki on 12 – 15 June 2014.

The four-day congress, which is organised every other year, was held for the first time in Finland and indeed the Nordic countries. There was also an exhibition in the Winter Garden, with 21 exhibitors.

“Messukeskus Helsinki is a well-run complex where everything works smoothly. Its location near but not quite in the centre of Helsinki is ideal for congresses: the city centre is easily accessible yet far enough so that participants do not wander off too easily,” says Päivi Wood, CEO at the Society of Radiographers in Finland.

Congress participants were also able to learn about Finland in events organised for them: sauna in Uunisaari island, hiking in Nuuksio National Park, and jogging round Töölönlahti Bay. There was also a This is Finland lecture about Finland, the Finns and radiography in Finland.

The Society of Radiographers in Finland organised the conference for the International Society of Radiographers and Radiological Technologists, ISRRT.
