Finalists at the World Ski Awards, the only global initiative to recognise, reward and celebrate excellence in the ski hospitality industry, are entering the final straight as the deadline for voting approaches.

The World Ski Awards 2014 will take place over the weekend of November 21st-23rd at the A-ROSA Kitzbühel, Austria and will host the ski tourism industry’s leading international figure-heads and decision makers.

Voting for the event closes on September 26th, with just two all-important weeks left to cast ballots.

The full three day programme consists of luxury chauffeur driven airport transfers to and from the five-star A-ROSA Kitzbühel, exclusive networking events, private skiing on the slopes of the world famous Hahnenkamm, sight-seeing tours and a host of other networking activities.

The highlight of the event will, of course, be the glittering red carpet World Ski Awards Gala Ceremony itself on the evening of November 22nd.

Sion Rapson, Managing Director, World Ski Awards, said: “In 2013 were made the decision to launch World Ski Awards in reaction to overwhelming demand from the ski industry for a programme that was fair and transparent. Our decision was fully vindicated in November last year, when we welcomed leaders from across the industry to A-ROSA Kitzbühel for our inaugural event

“As the deadline for voting closes in ahead of our 2014 event, we feel we have created programme with a mission to serve as the definitive benchmark of excellence, and to help to foster a new era of growth in ski tourism.”

As well as accolades for the best products from the world’s leading ski tourism nations, awards for the ‘World’s Best Ski Resort’, ‘World’s Best Ski Hotel’, ‘World’s Best Ski Chalet’, and ‘World’s Best Ski Boutique Hotel’ will be presented.

New to the 2014 programme will be awards for ‘World’s Best Ski Tour Operator’, ‘World’s Best Ski Travel Agent’, ‘World’s Best Ski Resort Company’, ‘World Best New Ski Hotel’ and ‘World’s Best New Ski Chalet’.

Spain will also enter the pantheon of the top 21 ski nations to be honoured.

Uwe Schramm, General Manager at host hotel A-ROSA Kitzbühel said: “I am excited to be welcoming the global ski industry to A-ROSA Kitzbühel once again in November. This event will be an outstanding opportunity to meet professionals from all over the world, as well as a great chance to network.”

He added: I do not wish to reveal too many details at this stage. However, I am happy to say that an appealing three day programme is being organised once again for all guests coming to Kitzbühel, with further details following in the next few weeks. We are anticipating a chance to welcome as many winners as possible and I am convinced that the event itself is strongly contributing to the growing importance of the ski tourism here in the region. I, and the entire team of the A-ROSA Kitzbühel, are very proud to have been nominated alongside so many high-profile competitors and believe it is an honour for all of the short-listed competitors to have been selected to participate in the awarding of the ‘Ski Oscars’.”

Gerhard Walter, Managing Director, Kitzbühel Tourism Board, said: “Following the phenomenal success of the very first World Ski Awards in 2013, the Kitzbühel Tourism Board is deeply honoured to accept the invitation to host the second World Ski Awards. Last year, playing host to the figureheads of the international tourism industry made all of us in Kitzbühel very proud and we cannot wait to welcome this prestigious and important global event back to Kitzbühel this coming November.”

World Ski Awards is the sister organisation of World Travel Awards, which is heralded as “the Oscars of the travel industry”.
