Jumeirah Group appoints new General ManagersDubai: Jumeirah Group, the global luxury hotel company and a member of Dubai Holding, has appointed new General Managers at Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel and Spa in Mallorca and Jumeirah Zabeel Saray in Dubai.

Jordi E. Tarrida, a German national, will take over from Fernando Gibaja who has moved from Spain to Dubai to embark on a new role as General Manager of Jumeirah Zabeel Saray.

Before joining Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel and Spa, Jordi E. Tarrida worked at Trump Turnberry Resort in Scotland where he was the General Manager for three years. Prior to this he was Area Manager for Arabella Golf & Spa Resort and General Manager for the St. Regis Mardavall Resort both in Mallorca.

Jordi E. Tarrida has held a number of senior international Sales and Marketing positions in Europe including Director of Marketing at the Palace Hotel Madrid, Area Director of Marketing for Starwood Hotels and Resorts in Spain and Portugal, Director of Sales at the Sheraton Hotel Frankfurt and Sheraton Hotel in Abu Dhabi.

In his new role, which became effective on 1 September 2014, Jordi E. Tarrida will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the hotel, leading the team at the resort to continued success.

Fernando Gibaja, a Spanish national, joins Jumeirah Zabeel Saray on Palm Jumeirah as the new General Manager, effective from 5 October 2014. Fernando Gibaja will be responsible for building on the success and reputation of the award-winning resort, taking over from the current General Manager Stephan Schupbach, who is promoted to Regional Vice President Operations for Jumeirah Group.

He first joined Jumeirah in 2010 as General Manager of Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel and Spa to lead the pre-opening of the hotel and successfully led the operations of the stunning property in Mallorca. Fernando Gibaja’s industry experience spans over 20 years and includes roles with the Ritz-Carlton and Mandarin Oriental. He has worked across the USA, Mexico, Spain and Singapore, holding a number of senior positions in the areas of Food and Beverage and Banqueting, as well as Executive Assistant Manager and General Manager roles.
