‘Art & Democracy Weekend’ at Costa Navarino, Greece, on 11-13 September

Paul Krugman and Jeff Koons among the guest speakers of the exclusive International New York Times Forum 22 July 2015, London – Costa Navarino, the prime sustainable destination in the culturally rich and naturally unspoiled Greek region of Messinia in the southwest Peloponnese, will be the host of an exclusive Art and Democracy Weekend organised by The International New York Times.

A thought-provoking Forum on Art & Democracy will be the focal point of this exclusive weekend at Costa Navarino, to be held 11-13 September in the context of this year’s International New York Times Athens Democracy Forum. Participants with an interest in art, culture and democracy will have a unique opportunity to escape on a memorable weekend event and immerse themselves in authentic experiences, on an invitation-only basis.

Internationally acclaimed guest speakers include among others, the Nobel Prize-winning Economist Paul Krugman and the popular American artist Jeff Koons.
The discussion will be moderated by Serge Schmemann, member of the editorial board of The New York Times and aims to explore the relationship between art and democracy, raising the question: Can the arts create more democratic societies?
