AIBTM 2013 (www.aibtm.com) has won the Gold 100 Grand Award for the “Best Hosted Buyer Program”.

An honour in the U.S. meetings and events space, the category ‘exemplified the very best, awarded to shows of all sizes, not just the largest.’  Winners were based on how well their event’s initiatives and performance aligned with the award criteria including exceeding attendance goals, Hosted Buyer satisfaction scores and innovative experiences.

Michael Lyons, Reed Travel Exhibitions, AIBTM Exhibition Director commented, “We are delighted that AIBTM has been recognised as providing the premier Hosted Buyer program in the industry. We place a heavy emphasis on quality and this goal is consistent with all Reed Travel Exhibitions events on 5 continents. Reed consistently delivers the highest quality buyers who must undergo a rigorous qualification process to ensure they are in a position to place business with our exhibitors.  At the same time, these Hosted Buyers expect more than just one-to-one business appointments and networking. They look to be inspired during AIBTM’s robust ‘Education Day’, which offers a diverse menu of education sessions designed to appeal to all the audiences that come to AIBTM”.

“One of only 17 Awards in the Gold 100 Grand Award Category, this accolade will certainly give our exhibitors the reassurance that their investment in AIBTM really does help to deliver a secure return on investment”.

AIBTM was the first event in the U.S. to have a Hosted Buyer program for the meetings sector.  It consists of various elements to ensure that both buyers and suppliers achieve their business objectives at every show.  Not only is 90% of the education CEU-accredited, thus enhancing career prospects through continual learning and certification, but the program also allows for key networking opportunities in a relaxed environment so that individuals can catch up with peers, friends and colleagues.

This year AIBTM, which took place in Chicago, hosted a “Night at the Ball Park” at the iconic Wrigley Field, a Welcome Party at Navy Pier, created a “Refresh Zone” on the show floor and distributed “Brain food inspired” lunch boxes created by McCormick’s chef during the packed opening Luncheon Keynote featuring J. Walker Smith, principal of The Futures Company. The “brain food” theme was carried out throughout the show so meetings industry professionals could understand the importance of brain health and the role it plays in the productivity of meetings.

AIBTM is the only event of its kind in the U.S. that is independently audited. All figures relating to the event are verified for transparency and are available to view via www.abc.org.uk

AIBTM 2014 will take place June 10-12 in Orlando’s Orange County Convention Center. For more information visit www.aibtm.com
