CASTILLA Y LEONCastile-Leon welcomes some 0.43 foreign tourists per head each year, according to a study carried out by the Regional Government, with Burgos, Salamanca and Segovia achieving rates above this average figure. Many of these visitors are attracted each year by the Region’s considerable natural appeal, not to mention its routes, its cuisine, its wine and its culture.

Precisely, in the cultural realm, the Regional Government of Castile-Leon will promote “The Ages of Man: Eucharistía” at FITUR 2014, an attraction that will subsequently be presented at other trade fairs that are due to take place in Spain throughout the year. The Region has designed a special promotional plan to turn this exhibition into a grand cultural and tourist event in 2014, based on an investment of some half a million euros, according to the newspaper, El Diario de Ávila. This much was confirmed by the Head of Culture and Tourism at the Regional Government of Castile-Leon, Alicia García, during the presentation of this exhibition, which will be staged in Avila as of May of this year.

In this respect, a series of measures will be introduced, such as the “Ages Card”, which will attract visitors by offering discounts, benefits and special advantages at establishments throughout the Region. Furthermore, the Region’s tourist sector will collaborate with the campaign by presenting a number of special offers, whilst various companies will help to promote the exhibition at a national level.

Furthermore, on 29 May a tourism services tender will be organised in Aranda de Duero, focusing on grand events and food & wine tourism, with a view to raising international awareness of the Ages of Man Exhibition and the tourist products of the Ribera del Duero area, whilst also creating a series of new marketing opportunities.
