Green product line in Scandinavia developed by Kuoni Destination Management

Kuoni Destination Management has set up programmes for the incentive market with a focus on sustainability. The activities cause minimal burden to the environment, in line with the company’s focus on Corporate Responsibility.

Tampere, Finland, and Copenhagen, Denmark are the two chosen destinations for the new green programmes in Scandinavia. The city Tampere is located between two lakes. The rapids linking them are an important power source for generating electricity. The city pays special attention to environment conservation and is an excellent destination for large congresses or smaller incentive tours. It is home to Finland’s leading congress and concert centre, the Tampere Hall. Some of the sustainable options in this destination are:

  • Reduce CO₂emissions by staying in an environmentally friendly hotel and walking instead of driving to the Tampere Hall, which has versatile facilities to host events of different kinds and sizes.
  • Arrange CO₂emission free forest or lake activities: mountain biking; frisbee; golf; rock climbing; nordic walking; ice fishing; canoe tour or church boat (traditional Finnish long rowing boat) competition.
  • Take a survival course in the forest surrounding this lively city, which has a landscape dominated by valleys and gorges formed during the Ice Age, and is home of the Siberian flying squirrel.

Copenhagen is considered as one of the world’s most environmentally friendly cities. The water in the inner harbour is so clean that one can swim in it, and 36% of all citizens commute to work by bicycle. Since the year 2000, Copenhagen has massively invested in cultural facilities as well as infrastructure and there has been a new wave of successful designers, chefs and architects. The new programme includes:

  • A visit to the self-proclaimed autonomous community of Christiania. In the community’s close network, residents have a responsibility for the area’s development and condition.
  • Choice of sustainable hotels, facilities and restaurants for your meeting.
  • Kayak Polo as a teambuilding activity.
  • Travel by bio diesel coach to the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art outside Copenhagen, where the interaction between art, nature and the museum architecture is unique.
