International visitors to Australia spent A$29.6 billion in the 12 months ending March 2014, a boost of 6% over the previous year, according to the quarterly International Visitor Survey released today by Tourism Research Australia.

Trade and Investment Minister Andrew Robb welcomed the IVS results that show Australia has experienced significant growth across a number of Asian markets, as well as record growth from the United States.

Coinciding with the release of the March 2014 IVS results that take into account international visitors 15 years and over, the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) released visitor statistics for the year to April 2014 across all ages. The ABS visitor arrival figures show 6.6 million visitor arrivals to Australia for the 12 months to April 2014, an increase of 7.6 per cent relative to the previous year.
