Tourism Authority and Exhibition together to relaunch the destination

Egypt, Partner Country at TTG Incontri 2014, the main travel trade fair in ItalyJuly 9, 2014 – Massive participation this year at TTG Incontri by Egypt, Partner Country of the main b2b exhibition in Italy, scheduled for October 9 to 11 in Rimini Fiera. “Our goal – states Minister Hisham Zaazou, recently reappointed as head of the Ministry – is to work with the trade sector to relaunch the destination”.

“Our participation in the next TTG incontri – says Mohamed Abdel Gabbar, director of the Egypt Tourism Authority office in Italy – aims to continue the all-round promotion of the Country, but mostly wishes to reaffirm once again that Egypt is a safe and secure destination, ready to welcome tourists with the usual warmth and hospitality. Italy is a very important market for us and we want it to re-establish its role as leading incoming market for Egypt. Our choice to take part in TTG Incontri is due to the fact that this is one of the most important trade fairs in Italy and we are sure it will keep on growing even more “.

Huge exposure will be therefore granted to the destination, that will gather in its wide exhibition area an articulate selection of specialists, ready to work in partnership with their Italian colleagues and determined to reach the target of 12 million international arrivals forecast for this year. “Within the next six years– the Minister adds – this number will double. Our target for 2020 is to reach the threshold of 25 million foreign visitors and to increase the currency proceeds coming from the inbound sector thus reaching 25 billion dollars as opposed to the current 12 billions”.

“We will strongly promote the High Egypt –the director says – which is one of the tourist destinations which have most dramatically suffered in the last years and then of course the resorts on the Red Sea, the oases, etc. We know that this is a difficult period not just for us but for all the operators, but the situation is getting back to normal after the election of the new President and, in the very near future, of the new Parliament. All those who are willing to invest in our Country are encouraged to do so”.

The many projects which are being devised to relaunch the destination will be presented during the opening press conference of TTG Incontri 2014. Among them, a 500 million dollar fund – made up of both public and private money – that will be available by the first half of next year, to be complemented by the new safety measures for the surveillance of the tourist resorts on the Red Sea.

“We intend to implement different strategies to relaunch the destination –the director explains- Just like we have done in the last years, we will support the tour operators through both co-marketing and targeted activities. We will also organise roadshows and educational tours. We will carry on with the United For Egypt project which turned out to be a great success. And in this respect, I would like to thank once again ASTOI, the Italian association of tour operators, for its unwavering trust in this project and for the support it has always provided”.

Always on the side of national and foreign sector operators, TTG Incontri reaffirms its ability to model its own contents and services based on the most topical and stringent needs of the market. The country partnership established with the Egypt Tourism Authority for the 2014 edition is one of the most prominent initiatives scheduled by the North African destination to win back the trust of the Italian market, one of the most present and incisive actors in Egypt’s incoming sector.
