RIU Hotels & Resorts awarded Top Hotel Chain in Mexico by Travel Weekly

Riviera Maya receives the “Best Destination” accolade in Mexico for the sixth consecutive year. Jamaica and Costa Rica are awarded “Best Destination” in the Caribbean and Central/South America respectively.
The prestigious magazine Travel Weekly, celebrated the seventh annual Travel Weekly Readers’ Choice Awards ceremony on the 17th of December 2009 during a gala dinner at the Plaza Hotel in New York.
RIU Hotels & Resorts was awarded Best Hotel Chain in Mexico. This prize recognizes RIU’s commitment to this destination. Currently the hotel chain has 15 hotels in Mexico, of which 6 are located in Riviera Maya, also awarded “Best Destination” by Travel Weekly.
Furthermore, the hotel chain has 4 hotels in Jamaica and 1 hotel in Costa Rica (the recently opened Riu Guanacaste). Both countries have been awarded “Best Destination” in the Caribbean and Central/South America respectively.
The awards are presented to industry suppliers considered by Travel Weekly readers to have excelled in product and service during the past year. Nominees and award recipients were chosen in several rounds of voting by Travel Weekly readers. Travel Weekly is a prestigious magazine for travel agents in North America, with a distribution of 150.000 copies a week.
