Central Europe will be soon connected with Asia by railway

In the nearest future railway system of Central Europe will be connected with Trans-Siberian railway. With this purpose quadripartite agreement was signed in Bratislava for the project feasibility study of the construction of the railway from Kosice, Slovakia to Vienna, Austria.

The document was signed by the railroads administrations of Austria, Slovakia, Ukraine and Russia (Russian Railways). Roland Berger Strategy Consultants company was selected for the development of feasibility studies of investment project.

In 2007-2008 in Vienna, Moscow and Bratislava several meetings of the parties were held. On June 17, 2008 final protocol was signed with confirmation of potential effectiveness of the project and approval of the preliminary study. The parties also agreed to establish a joint managing company for coordinating the project.
