Federal Agency of Air Transportation is considering the possibility to compensate the losses of the Russian air companies related to the flights cancellations due to volcanic eruptions in Iceland. It was announced on Thursday by the Head of Russian Aviation Authority Aleksandr Neradko.

The financial assistance may be necessary in the process of transportation the people back home from abroad. As reported the Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Igor Levitin during the emergency government meeting on Sunday, the air companies didn’t need extra financial resources at that moment. He added that the Ministry of Transport “monitored the situation”.

“It’s necessary to calculate the extent of the damage, at the moment we help only the passengers, as soon as air companies calculate their losses, I won’t rule out the possibility of compensating it”, Interfax quoted Aleksandr Neradko.
