Sochi 2014 Ambassador Irek Zaripov Receives “Best Athlete of the Month” Title

The Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee congratulates four-time Paralympic Champion of the Vancouver 2010 Games and Sochi 2014 Ambassador Irek Zaripov with receiving the title of “Best Athlete of March” within Russia’s leading television channel’s “Gold Pedestal” project.

Zaripov won four gold medals during the Vancouver Games in Cross-Country Skiing and Biathlon. Additionally, he was given the honor of bearing the Russian flag during the Closing Ceremony of the 2010 Paralympic Games in Vancouver.

Irek Zaripov is an example of courage and is a role model for millions of people around the world. The Organizing Committee expresses gratitude to this athlete for his help in organizing the Sochi 2014 Games, as well as for promoting the Olympic and Paralympic values in Russia.
