The passenger traffic of the Russian air companies increased by one third

According to the statistics released by Russian Aviation Authorities (Rosaviatsiya), the passenger traffic of 2 first months of the year increased by one third.

The leaders in number of transported passengers as in 2009 became Aeroflot, Transaero, Sibir, UTair and GTK Rossiya. Aeroflot transported more than 1.5 million passengers during the first 2 months of 2010, Transaero – 775 thousand, Sibir – 646 thousand, UTair – 608 thousand and GTK Rossiya – 361 thousand passengers. The total growth of the number of the transported passengers of TOP 5 air carriers was more than 40%.

The highest percentage of the occupancy of the seats in January-February 2010 was noted for Orenburg airlines (96.8%) and the lowest one for Saratov airlines (48.9%).

According to the results of 2009 the majority of air companies had to admit the losses and lack of the passengers (on average – 10%). However, the first months of the year showed a sharp increase of passenger traffic and the demand for air transportation, which even the experts could not have foreseen.
