According to ATOR Analysts(www.atorus.ru), Yandex is a very reliable and effective instrument for studying the demand for the tours to different countries. In other words, if one wants to find out the tendencies of the market it’s possible to check the search of key words “tours to (country)”. The indicators of Yandex.ru coincide with the tendencies of the travel market and give the opportunity to analyze the dynamics of the demand of the potential clients for the tours to different countries.

A search activity for the tours of Yandex users increased by 40% in March, 2010 in comparison with the same period of 2009.

The analyses of the search results of the key words, like “tours to (the country of search)” in Yandex.ru search system let us note a considerable increase of demand for “tours to the sea side” (+90%).

The demand for children’s trips, cruises and wellness tours increased by 50%, the interest in excursion tours, bus tours, weekend tours, informational trips, educational tours and sport tours increased by 25%, and more than 20% increase can be noted for the search of pilgrimage tours.

It’s obvious, that the demand for the domestic trips through Russia increased before a high season. The demand for the tours to Moscow increased by 50%, in general, the demand for the tours through Russia increased by 80%. The demand for Volga river cruises increased by 20%. At the same time the demand for the tours to Moscow area decreased almost by 20%.

As for the outbound tourism, the leading countries in number of requests were Egypt, Turkey, Italy, Thailand and Spain. The share of the demand for these 5 countries was more than 53% in Yandex in March.
