MAMMA MIA! has become the Echo Arena Liverpool’s best selling show since the venue opened in January 2008.

Over 54,000 tickets were sold for the smash hit musical which has been appearing in Liverpool this month for three weeks – the longest performance run that the waterfront venue has hosted to date.

A commemorative plaque has been presented to the cast members who have been in the city as part of a world-wide tour.

The milestone follows the Echo Arena’s win of ‘best performance venue’ at the The Mersey Partnership’s tourism awards earlier this month.

Ian Congdon, Sales Manager of the Echo Arena, said, “The MAMMA MIA! run has been hugely successful and we’re looking forward to welcoming similar events in the future. This demonstrates that Liverpool can host a high profile residency and will help to bring other internationally recognised shows to the city.”
