London Southbank to Singapore – the journey of the photo competition winner!

For 16 year-old Londoner Billy Rowlinson, a dream came true last August!  His winning pictures of BMX riders on London’s Southbank took him all the way to Singapore for the Youth Olympic Games to work as an official IOC photographer alongside the professionals!

He spent four days darting across the city to the various different venues to capture as much as possible of the 26 sports through the eye of his camera lens.  Under the guidance of IOC photographers, Billy was given all the equipment he needed to take the perfect shots.

The highlight of the trip was covering the Closing Ceremony from the front row media seats.

Thanks to this competition and his great work in Singapore, Billy has been offered a trainee photographer position at Reuters (UK). Congratulations Billy!

Here is a selection of his images, and check out also the blog especially created on Flicker.
