Tourism advertising campaign will cost Moscow about 600 million rubles

Acting Mayor of Moscow Vladimir Resin gave orders to invest 592 million rubles in 2011 for the development and advertising of the tourism of the capital of Russia. This sum will be spent for the organization of annual travel market in Gostiny Dvor and for participation of the city in major world travel events. Besides, some of the means will be spent for the organization of Congress of World Association of Guides which will be held in 2013.

According to the data of Moscow Tourism Committee, the number of the foreign tourists increased by 18.4% during the first six months of 2010 in comparison with 2009. 3.7 million foreign tourists visited Moscow in 2009 and just 2.3 million tourists visited St. Petersburg.

According to Sergey Baydakov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow, every foreign tourist spends about 1 thousand USD. So the revenue of the city amounts to 3.7 billion USD.
