Amsterdam RAI is European front runner in CSR

Amsterdam RAI has published its second sustainability report, giving a detailed overview of the RAI’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) performance. The report shows that Amsterdam RAI continues to be a European front runner in the field of CSR in the exhibition and conference industry. The RAI has high ambitions in the CSR sector and plans to be the most sustainable exhibition and conference location in Europe by 2013.

“The Dutch economy has been heavily affected by the financial recession over the past year and Amsterdam RAI has also felt the impact,” comments Chairman of the Board, Hans Bakker. “We were able to overcome these challenges in 2009 by implementing cost savings and increasing efficiency. However, we intentionally refused to make any substantial compromises to our CSR policy as this might have derailed our goal of becoming leader in the European event industry within five years.”

Future

The report makes clear that Amsterdam RAI will continue its cooperation with leading Dutch transport companies NS (rail) and GVB (tram/bus) as it aims to intensify the use of public transport for all events and exhibitions. The RAI is also reinforcing its structural approach to further reducing energy consumption, while also stimulating corporate social responsibility among its stakeholders.
