EIBTM’s official local agency, Ultramar Event Management has reached a series of agreements with hitherto traditional holiday resorts to reposition them within the MICE market.

As the MICE (meetings, incentives, congresses and events) division of TUI Travel PLC in Spain, the company has cooperated actively with local institutions to re-position destinations such as Salou, Lloret de Mar or the Costa Blanca, all of which were previously known as traditional holiday resorts.

Ultramar has included the new destinations in its portfolio of preferential destinations in order to create new products suited to today’s economic situation, after responding to the needs of clients in the MICE sector who, in view of the economic situation, demand cheaper destinations but still require professionalism and quality.

Costa Blanca, Lloret de Mar or Salou all have excellent facilities for hosting corporate events and meetings as well as a strong hotel infrastructure and good access from their respective airports. The destinations themselves very much appreciate these agreements as professional tourism is less seasonal and will enable them to exploit their resources all year round, so complementing seasonal holiday tourism.
