Aeroflot and Megafon will offer mobile communication on-board

Starting from December 24, 2010 Aeroflot and Megafon will offer mobile services for the passengers.

All the Megafon subscribers will be able to use new service free of charge till January 31, 2011. The first aircraft of Aeroflot with mobile connection became Airbus A321 named after Mstislav Keldysh. For the moment air passengers will be able to use GPRS Internet, SMS and MMS exchange. Next year new service will be also offered in some other aircrafts including transcontinental Airbus A330.


According to the legislation of the Russian Federation, the equipment for mobile services will be turned on only at the altitude of more than 3000 metres. source: atorus.ru
