Expansion of Oslo Airport Gardermoen

As a result of more air traffic to and from Oslo Gardermoen, an expansion of the airport is under planning. The new pier will allow the airport to increase its capacity.

Currently, Oslo Airport Gardermoen has a capacity of 23 million people on a yearly basis. When the first part of the expansion is completed, the airport will be able to handle 28 million passengers per year.

The plan is to enlarge the terminal with a new pier enabling more planes to dock. The terminal will also get a new arrival and departure hall, as well as new luggage claim facilities.

The Norwegian Ministry of Transport and Communications have given a green light to the plans. The airport operator Avinor will have the final say in regards to the expansion plans, and a decision is awaited in early 2011.
