Thailand took the lead over Egypt in January 2011

The demand for Thailand in January broke all the records. According to ATOR Analytical Service, almost 122 thousand Russians visited Thailand in January (+40 thousand in comparison with January 2010). The tourist flow of the Russians to Thailand increased by 48% in January. Just to remind, almost 98 thousand Russians visited Thailand in December 2010.

The Russian market entered the TOP 3 list in number of arrivals with the share of 6.8%. Russia gave way in January only to Malaysia (9.1%) and China (7.2%). Such result of the Russian market was definitely affected by the situation in Egypt. According to ATOR Analytical Service, the number of “defectors” to Thailand amounted to not more than 5-7 thousand people.

It’s interesting to note, that according to the data of TOURMARKET.INFO system (the number of processed requests in January in TOURINDEX system), Thailand took the 1st place for the first time (with the share of 25.2%) leaving behind Egypt. Just to compare, the share of Thailand in January 2010 amounted to 20.7% and Egypt had 39.2%. source:atorus.ru
