Brussels – The “Tutankhamun, his tomb and his treasures” exhibition which opened on Tuesday 19th April has already attracted over 20,000 people barely a week after it began.

Such a level of popularity was quite a surprise. Just one week after the “Tutankhamun, his tomb and his treasures” exhibition opened, over 20,000 tickets have already been sold to members of the public. On top of this, the exhibition is already attracting visitors from neighbouring countries.

“It is an extraordinary start,” admits Philippe Close, President of VisitBrussels. “It was the success of this travelling exhibition in other European cities that encouraged us to contribute to its move to Brussels. The exhibition will last for 6 months and we are hoping to attract 200,000 visitors.”

The joint project run by the VisitBrussels Tourist Office is indeed a first. “It is the result of our desire to diversify our activities. VisitBrussels is keen not only to be proactive when it comes to the services it offers, but also to put on events that might create local jobs”.
