Spain estimates that 2011 will be a record-breaking in number of the tourists from Russia. The country plans to become “a number one destination” for the Russians in 5 years.

The Consulate General of Spain issued 442 thousand visas in 2010 (+59.3% in comparison with 2009). The number of issued visas increased by 65% in 2011, noting the data from the beginning of the year.
According to the Spanish officials, the country headed for the increase of the number of the Russian tourists 3 years ago and since that time the tourist flow has been increased in 3 times.
The country does its best to satisfy the Russian tourists. In particular, the number of the hotels oriented to the Russian tourists has been increasing constantly. The number of the flights will be increased by 70% this summer in comparison with last year.

However, Spain has to struggle for the title of “the number one destination” with Finland. Just to remind, about 750 thousand visas were issued only in St. Petersburg in 2010.

Nevertheless, Spain increased the number of the tourists from Russia thanks to the loyal visa policy. According to the official information, all the applicants receive multiple visas for 6 months, the next one can be given for one year period and then it’s possible to apply for 3 years visa. source: atorus.ru
