Summers of Dance – Miami City Ballet

Since 2005, this summer dance festival has been the capital’s major international classic and contemporary dance event in the capital during the summer.
Each new edition presents a major dance company. 2011 will be marked by the arrival of Miami City Ballet, for its 25th anniversary, on the Théâtre du Châtelet stage.

Directed by Edward Villella, this company, one of the most prestigious in the United States, has been beautifully interpreting major ballets from the classical and modern repertoire since 1985, as well as less-well-known works.
In Paris, the Miami City Ballet will for the first time this summer present 8 ballets by George Balanchine (“Square Dance”, “Ballet Imperial”, “Theme and Variations”, “The Four Temperaments”, “Symphony in Three Movements”, “The Waltz”, “Tarantella”, “Western Symphony”) as well as creations by Jerome Robbins (“Afternoon of a Faun”, “In the Night”), Twyla Tharp (“In the Upper Room”, “Nine Sinatra Songs”), Paul Taylor (“Mercuric Tidings”) and Christopher Wheeldom (“Liturgy”).
