Slovenia hosting world lace congress 2016

Every two years International organization OIDFA organizes international Congress. This year two countries, Slovenia and Germany, bid for organization of Congress 2016.

Preparation for candidacy was proceeded in cooperation with Municipality of Idria, Slovenian Lace makers Association, and all who love laceworks, Lace school Idrija and agency GO.MICE. Accompanied by Ljubljana Tourism, the prepared candidacy in printed and digital form sent end of 2010 to committee of OIDFE. Candidacy with rich pictorial material about Slovenian laceworks and Slovenia was extended with PowerPoint presentation, that was personally presented by representatives of Organization on July 1, at session of the OIDFA Board of directors.

At last few congresses between 800 and 1000 participiants from more than 35 countries of the world took part at this professional work. Furthermore, exhibition of bobbin and sewing lacework opened for public, always attracted additional visitors. Due to large number of participants the congress will be held in Ljubljana. Professional organization will be arranged by Municipality of Idria, Slovenian Lace makers Asociation, Lace school Idrija and all who love laceworks. Technical organization will be provided by congress agency GO.MICE.
