The tourist flow to Greece has increased but not the profit

The number of the Russians who visited Greece during the summer period increased by 40% in comparison with last year, however the price wars of the tour operators didn’t give them an opportunity to make money of selling the tours.

The experts describe the situation as a complicated one for getting a real profit. Ekaterina Ayzerman, Deputy Director of Solvex Travel notes the good dynamics of the number of the tourists: “The planned increase was reasonable; we have the growth of the flow to Greece about 50% this year in comparison with last one”. However, talking about the financial matter, the expert stated that the season was very difficult due to the dumping wars. “We understood that it wouldn’t be easy. The increase of the number of the tourists didn’t bring the financial profit: we didn’t gain that had planned, but it was good that didn’t lose”, added Ms Ayzerman.

Biblio Globus confirmed that the summer was difficult. The first month was the most successful, and July was the hardest one. The operator doesn’t even talk about the profitability. “We had a plan in 2011 not to earn but to increase the volumes in 3 times and to expand the geography of the flights from the regions of Russia. This goal was achieved,” said Aleksandr Tugolukov, General Director of Biblio Globus.

“The burning” of Greece was stimulated in summer by the excess number of the flights to Rhodes and Crete. The situation in the mainland of Greece was better. “Talking about the qualitative rating of the season, to my mind, the excess of the air transportation amounted to 25%. If to estimate the market in general, it increased by 25-30% in comparison with last year, our volumes grew for 20-25%,” thinks Alexey Emelyanov from IntAer. www.atorus.ru
