DFDS named world’s leading ferry operator

Now you can travel with the world’s best ferry company between Oslo and Copenhagen; the Danish ferry company DFDS came out on top at the 2011 World Travel Awards. DFDS also won the award for Europe’s leading long sea ferry operator for the fifth year in a row.

The World Travel Awards are voted on by travel professionals from all over the world, and The Wall Street Journal has called it “the Oscars of the travel industry”. The World Travel Awards were launched in 1993 and recognizes travel industry excellence in in several hundred categories. This year’s grand final was held in Doha, Qatar on 11 January.

The European World Travel Awards ceremony was held in Antalya, Turkey in September 2011, and Oslo’s hotels did well in competition with other Norwegian hotels. Holmenkollen Park Hotel Rica was named Norway’s leading hotel for the second consecutive year, while First Hotel Millennium was voted the country’s top business hotel, also for the second year in a row.

The Danish ferry company won the award for the world’s leading ferry company at the World Travel Awards 2011. DFDS was also named Europe’s top long sea ferry operator for the fifth consecutive year.
