Spanair ceases operations

Spain’s fourth biggest air carrier Spanair has announced that it ceases its operations after the regional authorities cut the financing of the carrier, the foreign media reported.

An official in the autonomous community of Catalonia, which has been financing the company since 2008, said the authorities could not provide money for the air carrier any longer. The reason cited is “the current economic climate” in Europe. Focus Information
