The Governor of Vologodskaya oblast Oleg Kuvshinnikov presented a whole year round project “Velikiy Ustyug is a homeland of Ded Moroz”.

The Governor gave orders to make some changes in target program of the development of Velikiy Ustyug which was adopted in 2010 for 4 years. Despite the increasing interest in this town, the project remains a seasonal one.

32 thousand tourists visited Velikiy Ustyug during New Year Holidays. During the peak dates all the hotels noted the occupancy of 100%. However, the average annual indicator of the hotels doesn’t exceed 50%. Just to remind that the project “Velikiy Ustyug is a homeland of Ded Moroz” has been realized since 1998.

The tourist flow to Velikiy Ustyug amounted to 200 thousand people in 2011. The potential tourist capacity amounts to 500 thousand people a year. source: www.atorus.ru
