6TH MUSEUM CONFERENCE IN MAASTRICHT

Mr Siebe Weide, director of the Dutch Museum Association, announced that the 6th museum conference, on October 4th & 5th 2012, will be held in Maastricht.  During the annual conference, about 750 museum professionals gather for discussions, inspiration and networking.

Over the last year, six organisations (Bonnefantenmuseum, Natuurhistorisch museum, Centre Céramique, MECC MaastrichtPauwels Congress Organisers and the Maastricht Convention Bureau) worked together closely to achieve this result. They made a bidbook and during a decisive site visit, were able to convince the Museum association.

Every year, multiple cities are candidates for hosting the conference. Maastricht was chosen because of the compactness of the city, the facilities of MECC Maastricht, the beautiful Bonnefantenmuseum, the fact that the Natuurhistorisch museum exists 100 years and the recently rebuilt Museum aan het Vrijthof.
