Cologne Convention Bureau ReorganizedCOLOGNE. The Cologne Convention Bureau (CCB), which operates under the aegis of the Cologne Tourist Board, has been reorganized. Christian Woronka, who has been working for the CCB since 2008, is heading the team, and Lea Scholtysik is providing additional support.

Stephanie Franke, who headed the Cologne Convention Bureau ever since it was founded in 2008, has been an authorized signatory of the Cologne Tourist Board since November 2012. Franke, 38, who has a degree in business administration, has also since that time been the area director for the teams: marketing, brand communication, press and public relations, and the Internet, as well as for the CCB.

Christian Woronka has worked for the marketing department of the Cologne Tourist Board since 2005. He was a key force in the development of the concept behind the realignment of the convention business in Cologne — the concept that led to the establishment of the Cologne Convention Bureau. Woronka, 32, studied geography with a focus on tourism at the RWTH Aachen and wrote his master’s thesis on the topic of Cologne as a convention destination. In his previous position at CCB, he was responsible for key account management and marketing.

Lea Scholtysik, who has an education as an event manager, previously worked for a location in Cologne. In the future she will support the convention marketing team and focus on maintaining contacts with academic institutions, a segment that accounts for a significant proportion of the convention market in Cologne.

The CCB team now consists of five members. Stephanie Franke is the overall area director, Christian Woronka is the team manager of the Cologne Convention Bureau, Filiz Ük and Lea Scholtysik are in charge of convention marketing, and Verena Vaßen is in charge of the Meetropolis project.
