Nominations open this week in seven categories

ABTA – The Travel Association announced it has been named as an official partner for this year’s World Responsible Tourism Awards as they celebrate their 10th anniversary.  The Awards celebrate the shining stars of responsible tourism – those ventures around the world that make positive contributions to conservation and the economies of local communities.

Nominations for the first seven categories open this week commencing April 8th. For the first time the Awards also feature A People’s Choice category, which will open for nominations in August.

Nikki White ABTA Head of Destinations and Sustainability said: “ABTA is delighted to be working with this year’s World Responsible Tourism Awards.  Supporting responsible tourism is critical to ABTA and increasingly consumers are looking for travel experiences that take a holistic and sustainable approach.  The travel industry has an enormous responsibility to both maintain the beautiful places we visit and also to help provide rewarding and lasting employment for local people. These awards provide important recognition for the amazing work being done around the world and provide examples of best practice for every company and individual in the travel industry to aim for.”
