Sweden recorded a 12% rise in Russian visitor arrivals

In 2012 the tourist flow from Russia to Sweden increased by 12%, Head of the Russian office of VisitSweden, Alexander Panko said at a press conference held during the annual Moscow International Travel & Tourism Exhibition (MITT).

According to him, Stockholm still leads among most popular regions for Russian tourists with share 52.1% of the total flow. Sweden’s largest ski resort Åre and Jämtland region, where the resort is located, rank second. The city of Malmo, the capital of the southern province Skåne , which is connected by a bridge to Copenhagen, ranks third (10.6%). “This year we also expect an increase in the number of tourists from Russia, taking into account that now three flights are performed from Moscow to Stockholm daily , two of them are operated by Aeroflot and one of them -by Scandinavian Airlines SAS», – Mr. Panko said.
