Hotel booking site knocks TripAdvisor off top spot

The Website of the Year award – Britain’s most important people’s choice award for websites – has named hotel reservation site hotel.info the ‘Most Popular’ for the Leisure & Travel category, knocking reigning winner TripAdvisor off the number one spot.

hotel.info, listing more than 250,000 hotels worldwide in over 19,000 locations defeated the 2012 winner TripAdvisor , who has won the award for the past two years, and also beat other sites including British Airways, booking.com and Expedia with the highest amount of votes in the category.

Country Manager, Andreas Klug said: “Trusted by business customers for many years the award shows that we offer all hotel customers ideal solutions and the best user experience.

“hotel.info is very proud to receive the award for the most popular “Website of the Year” in the Leisure & Travel category, especially because this is the opinion of internet users throughout all customer groups.”

The award night at The Brewery in London on the 21st November saw 238 websites nominated across 20 categories, with more than 88,600 votes cast between the 23rd of September and the 1st of November.

Other winners included Amazon in the Shopping category, YouTube in the Media & Entertainment category and Vodafone for the Telecom category.
