June 21: European Music Day

On the occasion of the celebration of the European Music Day, this Saturday, June 21,

passengers and Athens airport visitors will enjoy a special music journey, through classical and contemporary compositions of the Greek and International repertoire with the Athens State Orchestra’s Brass & Percussion Ensemble “Metallon”.

The programme will feature popular tunes with a “cinephile” twist, including works composed for very well-known and popular films by composers such as Manos Hatzidakis, Nino Rota, Nicola Piovani, Ennio Morricone, Trevor Jones, Gerasimos Lavranos and more, especially adapted by the Athens State Orchestra’s Brass & Percussion Ensemble “Metallon”.

The Brass & Percussion Ensemble “Metallon” was formed on 2000 by prominent musicians of the Athens State Orchestra. The activities of the ensemble include concerts with baroque and classical compositions, jazz and contemporary covers as well as educative concerts for children.

The Athens State Orchestra will perform at the airport in the framework of AIA’s cooperation with the culture platform “ελculture” for the implementation of the cultural programme «Fly me to the Moon».
