Australia’s largest German Festival, Oktoberfest, will return to the Brisbane Showgrounds this weekend for a celebration like no other.

For the eighth year in a row, the Brisbane Showgrounds will be transformed into an authentic German marketplace filled with live music, gourmet German food and craft beers for Oktoberfest Brisbane.

More than 40,000 pretzel loving visitors are expected over the two weekends, with gates opening this Friday at 4pm.

Not only will the marketplace be filled with German food and beer, but there will be dancing, rides and the sounds of the Bavarian Oktoberfest Band, flown in directly from Munich.

Oktoberfest is one of the many festivals being held at the Brisbane Showgrounds over Spring and Summer, following the popular Listen Out festival last weekend.

RNA Chief Executive Brendan Christou said he was looking forward to seeing the Brisbane Showgrounds transformed into a mini Bavaria.

“Oktoberfest Brisbane is a hugely popular event and we are thrilled they are returning to the showgrounds for the eighth year in a row,” he said.

“It’s a fantastic festival that has fun activities for the whole family.

“The Brisbane Showgrounds is perfect for these indoor / outdoor festivals and we are looking forward to hosting more of them over the summer season.”

The 22 hectare Brisbane Showgrounds precinct is located just 1.5km from Brisbane’s CBD and is Queensland’s largest indoor / outdoor events site.
